The records consist of the transcript of proceedings, the notice of appeal, and a letter from the Department of Justice, all relating to the trial of Gavin Anderson and Sipho Kubeka. The accused were charged under the Riotous Assemblies Act, the Bantu Labour Relations Act, the Industrial Conciliation Act, and the Police Act. They were said to have incited workers not to accept re-employment after they had been dismissed. The workers, employed by Heinemann Electric, had been out on strike. The strike was organized by the Metal and Allied Workers' Union.
